Where Kleinmond stops for coffee.

Lekker is the Afrikaans word for everything good — and Lekker Koffiewinkel is exactly that: a lekker little coffee shop, tucked into the Spar Centrum on Botriver Road in Kleinmond, inside the SUPERSPAR centre.

The room is bright green and yellow, with patterned rugs on the floor, board games on the table, a cooldrink fridge by the door and soft jazz on the speakers. A small team — two people behind the counter — keeps the coffee coming.

The counter is proper Afrikaanse koffiewinkel food: koek and tert under glass domes, melktert and appeltert, vetkoek with mince, vleispastei, quiches, samoosas and broodjies, with prices written up by hand in chalk.
